Obama, a known Bulls fan, met with Miami forward Luol Deng over the summer while Deng was working to broker peace for South Sudan, his homeland. During a 20-minute conversation with Obama in the Oval Office, the President was optimistic about the Heat’s chances this year.
“He follows basketball and knows what he’s talking about,” Deng said. “First of all, he wasn’t happy that I’m not in Chicago anymore. But he also believes with the pieces that we have, he’s really excited to watch the Heat and he thinks we can do a lot of good things.”
